We are recruiting an exiting role of a Speciality Doctor in Ophthalmology at our SpaMedica Eye Hospitals. The appointee will complement the existing staff and take responsibility for the day-to-day functioning of the clinical service, working with clinical and managerial colleagues.
Applicants should be registered with the GMC. Previous experience in ophthalmic surgery, intravitreal injections, and research or teaching experience are desirable.
This is a regional role so travel to other SpaMedica sites will be required
Key Duties:
- To be part of a multidisciplinary team working alongside consultants, nurses, hospital optometrists and other clinical team members.
- To support and facilitate audits of clinical colleagues.
- To assist in virtual review of patients within Medical Retina (IVOM) and cataract services.
- To support with prescribing of medications within Medical Retina (IVOM) and/or cataract services.
- Involvement in SpaMedica external presentations and promotional events.
- Interpret OCT imaging, OCTA, ultrasound, ocular biometry and manage patients with ocular pathology
- Provide training to Spamedica Optometrists and nurses, as required
- To assist in the development of learning and training material for outpatient services
- Support colleague optometrists in complex case management.
- There is no on call requirement in this post, but you will be required to work a maximum of one Saturday per month (day off in the week to be given when a Saturday is worked).
We are looking for a well organised Ophthalmologist who has already demonstrated clinical ability and experience in their current role. You must be able to work under pressure and have strong organisational preferences. Excellent communication skills enabling you to relate clearly and effectively with both patients and colleagues are essential, as well as excellent interpersonal skills to work effectively with a wide range of people from different backgrounds. Self-motivated with the determination to develop.
