Job Summary

• Join a private optical practice with over 12 years in business. We have an exciting opportunity for a new Optical Assistant to join our close-knit, happy and relaxed team on a full or part time (3days minimum) basis. The practice is conveniently located in the town centre with excellent public transport links and parking options
• This role is for a Optical Assistant who will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation of an optical practice in the Birmingham area. Must be able to provide essential support to optometrists and help manage patient care. The role demands excellent communication skills, attention to detail, and a customer-focused attitude
• Applicants must be confident in using OCT, autorefrector, and other modern optical equipment
• Enjoy dispensing Mid to high-end frames and lenses, with a competitive selection of 700 frames including 150 frames for children

Key Duties

• Assisting customers with selecting and fitting eyeglasses and contact lenses
• Performing basic eye examinations and tests
• Managing appointments and customer records
• Handling sales transactions and processing payments
• Maintaining the cleanliness and organization of the store
• Providing excellent customer service and answering queries regarding eye care products
• Reception duties including booking appointments and handling inquiries

Key Skills, Qualifications and Client Requirements

• At least 2 years of experience in optics with dispensing experience
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Good computer literacy and ability to use optical software
• Good time-keeping skills and a valid driver's license
• Knowledge of optical products and services, including the use of an autorefrector
• Ability to handle cash and visa transactions
• Good attitude and strong handover experience
• Must be mature, responsible, and possess strong people skills
