The role of an Optical Practice Manager:

It is up to you and your team to bring M&S Opticians to life and create a high achieving environment that delivers an experience that creates a great customer journey. A large proportion of this job is focused on building and maintaining relationships with not only customers and your team members, but with the wider M&S store team. You can expect an environment where everyone is working towards the same goal and where M&S’s culture and values are at the heart of everything you do.

Your role will be split between dispensing and managing a small team of experienced optical assistants and a resident Optometrists. You’ll ensure everyone is equipped with the necessary knowledge and skills to do a truly great job. Leaving you free to concentrate on what matters most, delivering the highest standards of professionalism and growing a new business.

Responsibilities of the Optical Practice Manager:

The combined role will mean you’re accountable for the KPI’s and driving the business forward. You will coach and train colleagues, but you’ll be heavily involved in the commercial development too, which means bringing great new ideas and initiatives, as well as, marketing your practice effectively to ensure the store goes from strength to strength. As an M&S Opticians manager, you will be the force driving the progress, setting standards, inspiring staff, and leading by example.

Requirements of the Optical Practice Manager:

You will have a friendly and personable demeanour and a strong personal work ethic, with a customer-focused approach to your work and the ability to build a strong rapport with customers and colleagues alike. It’s essential you have previous managerial experience and ideally have a proven track record of growing a practice year on year.
