They have a combined over 50 years’ experience in optics and 2022 award winner for innovative start up company. They are covering the North, Central and now the South of England including Ireland and Scotland and still growing.

About the Optometrist role

As a Domiciliary Optometrist with this company, your role is very different from the norm in a retail practice. You will have clinical freedom and the variation of getting out on the road, visiting patients, predominantly within care home environments.

With no evening or weekend working and first appointments at 9.30am.
Working with an experienced Dispenser, who will support you throughout your clinics, allowing you to focus on the sight test and patient.

This company are all about empowering their own staff and coaching them to develop and think for themselves, enabling them to help elderly and vulnerable adults with their eye care needs. This is a challenging but rewarding role for those who are looking for something different.

This is a Monday – Friday role and can look at four- or five-day contract to suit you.
Competitive salary ranging from £60,000 up to £75,000 basic plus benefits*.

The responsibilities of the Optometrist

” Carry out sight tests on patients with a range of different needs who are unable to attend a high street practice and support test teams to do likewise in line with company standard operating procedures
” Offer help and advice to patients and carers with regard to eye health, spectacles required, choosing frames and lenses.
” Managing and supporting team of Optometrists through regular supervision
” Carry out a handover with patient’s/care home manager or family members to discuss the sight test results and any recommendations.
” Ensure all branch equipment is in working order and report any faults to central support.
” Actively participate in team meetings to look for areas of improvement and receive feedback
” There may be occasions where you will be required to take on additional responsibilities; undertaking all clinic responsibilities yourself, in such instances patient numbers will be managed accordingly
” Maintain confidentially regarding the company business / employees /patients, and their families
” No smoking or vaping, except in designated areas and on a designated break
” Report any accidents in the workplace to management immediately, including driving accidents/incidents

RH, CR, HA, HP, E, EN, N, NW, SE, SL, SM, UB, WD & SG

***Mileage allowance is paid.

The requirements of the Optometrist

” A minimum of 1 years post qualified experience
” Domiciliary experience would be advantageous but not essential
” GOC & and appropriate OPL/Health board registration
” In-depth knowledge of full NHS and professional compliance
” Calm under pressure and show listening skills to understand both customer and care staff concerns
” Forward thinking professionally
” Open-minded to change and improvement
” Displaying a pragmatic approach when solving problems and conflict resolution
” Show empathy and understanding of your patient group when delivering the service

Compensation for the Optometrist

Salary is competitive ranging from £60,000 up to £75,000 basic as other benefits listed below:
No weekends
Hours – 9.30-5.30pm Monday to Friday
33 days holiday per annum basic (pro-rata).
Professional indemnity insurance and reimbursement GOC fees
We provide you with full equipment* to undertake your role
Excellent work-life balance – we operate Monday to Friday only and aim to work across a 40-mile region as much as possible
*Paperless system, auto-refractor, electronic charts, (they also do retinal photography)
