Are you an experienced optical assistant looking for a new challenge in a customer focussed niche independent practice?

Optical Assistant Position

This is an optical dispensing position in a small, busy, high-end boutique practice who are known for 3 things.

1. Niche eyewear – We have relationships with the most admired and respected eyewear designers. They are of the highest quality. Handmade frames that only people who are in the know have heard of. They are hard to find, only a handful of UK’s most progressive opticians carry these collections.
2. Professional Expertise – They offer a superb choice of the world’s most
appealing eyewear, (With over 900 styles to choose from.)
But it is not a scratch-your- head and browse-around kind of place. They have perfected a more sophisticated and effective way to help clients choose the right glasses than trial and error, trying on frames at random.
They have unique “Eyewear Style Consultation” which is designed to make the customer’s quest for new eyewear an enjoyable experience. It saves them time and hassle. They find out definitively which frame styles will suit their face shape. It makes their decision on new eyewear easier and gives them confidence in what they choose.
The consultation is an opportunity for the client to discover the right style of eyewear for them in a no-pressure, relaxed environment with the help of a professional.
3. Personal Service – No more treating customers like they’re just a number.
They are a small (and in-demand) team of friendly, welcoming, real people. Clients can call in and have a conversation. They can come in and have the tour.
To give the clients the best service, they do things a bit differently. And there are some things you should know about this.
They work like any professional service and offer an appointment-based dispensing service for the client’s convenience, so can spend the necessary time with them to get it right.
To do it properly, to show the full collection and unique choice of styles, and to give the client the benefit of getting straightforward professional advice, they encourage clients to schedule an appointment.

Responsibilities of the Optical Assistant

Because they are known for their eyewear, they attract a massive number of external prescriptions. What that means is that there is a lot of dispensing and sales compared to a relatively low number of eye examinations. So high-level dispensing is the core of their business.
This type of role is perfect for you if,
o You are passionate about eyewear and style
o You enjoy dispensing (selling) eyewear and are confident and can do it with flair
o You like to make personal connections with clients, whether that’s on the phone, in reception or in a dispensing consultation.
o You get a buzz from being on the shop floor, seeing browsers, selling, getting involved in the day-to-day tasks that happen in a boutique business to create an exceptional experience for customers
o Your skills are far above the average dispensing optician when it comes to communication, understanding customer perceptions, building personal relationships, delivering an experience, and being able to step in at any stage of the customer journey and handle any situation with finesse.
o You’re a team player – getting involved in setting the practice up each morning, greeting clients as they arrive, making drinks for clients, quality control, and checking in clients’ eyewear. You’ll do whatever it takes to deliver an exceptional experience to a client.
o You’re not interested in “only getting your wages”, but in developing your skills and your career, and making a positive contribution to a business establishment and the community it serves.
o You understand what it means to be a hard worker and can withstand the pressures of a fast-paced, deadline-driven work environment.
o You pay attention to the details – our clients demand the highest standards and that is why they choose us.
o You are confident and communicate confidently to reassure clients that they are incapable hands.
o You are articulate, able to communicate clearly
o You can give world-class service and are genuinely interested in building strong and enjoyable relationships with clients

You also have excellent time management and organizational skills (remember, this is a BUSY, deadline-driven environment).

You are mature enough to take constructive criticism and correction without getting defensive. You look for solutions, not excuses. You are an avid learner, and extremely resourceful in finding solutions. You are a problem solver, not just a problem reporter.
