Pre-Reg Optometrist

We are really excited to have a rare opportunity to invite you to apply for a Pre-Registration placement starting in January 2023! We know there are some of you out there who, due to various circumstances, couldn’t start your placement in 2022, so we are welcoming you to join us early in 2023 to get started on your journey. So, what can you expect from our Pre-Registration programme?

Our Pre-registration Programme will give you the best possible start to your career in Optics and put everything you have learned at University into practice.

Immerse yourself in a 52 week programme in one of our 543 (of which 160 operate on a franchise basis) practices across the UK and you’ll really get to understand what it’s like to work in Optics with Europe’s leading health and beauty retailer, and experience our passion in striving to be number one for customer and patient care. Our programme is centred around your ongoing development, focused on ensuring you have all the support you need to qualify as an Optometrist following your Pre-registration year. Something we are really proud of is our first time OSCE pass rate of 80%, demonstrating how well supported you will be as a Pre-Reg, and of course you’ll be supported beyond that too when you’re in store as a newly qualified Boots Optometrist.

What you'll be doing on the programme.

Primarily, you'll experience what's at the heart of Optometry with Boots - helping our patients and colleagues alike.

Secondly, you'll develop skills that you won't learn at University. We'll give you the best possible start in your career as we want you to thrive professionally and personally.

Pre-registration year – What you will see and feel

• You will have ongoing access to online learning material, and undertake mock exams to enable you to be well prepared for OSCE's
