Part time Optometrist

We are looking for a part time optometrist with a passion for patient care to join our team delivering community glaucoma clinics in Colchester.

This is a wonderful opportunity to join our growing team of optometrists who have a passion for clinical optometry and an interest in expanding their skills and knowledge.

The role

Your role will be to take charge of the clinic carrying out monitoring of stable glaucoma and ocular hypertensive patients working as part of the Colchester Community Glaucoma Scheme. You will have access to a variety of ongoing learning opportunities including placement in Colchester hospital eye department as part of your initial training. You will also have an opportunity to expand our Colchester clinic to include post op cataract consultations and MECS appointments.

About you

You will be a registered optometrist with the General Optical Council. You will have a friendly and accessible manner be a good communicator with patience and empathy and be happy working closely as part of a team. No previous experience in glaucoma or hospital eye service is necessary as training will be provided, however you should have excellent clinical skills using a slit lamp and Volk lens to view the fundus and experience using Goldman applanation tonometry. Further qualifications in Glaucoma would be desirable but not essential but you should have an interest in developing your clinical skills.

Salary

Up to £70000 pro rata, dependant on experience, self employed options available.
