We are currently looking for a fully qualified Optometrist to join us to help grow our JM MacDonald practice in Portree on the Isle of Skye. Both full time (37.5 hours per week) and part-time will be considered for this role.

The ideal candidate be highly organised with an aptitude for balancing both the clinical and commercial aspects of the Optometrist's role in practice and also be keen to work with the Practice Manager and Practice Team to grow and build on the practice's existing success.

J M MacDonald in Portree is a successful growing practice within the Duncan and Todd Group. It opened on Skye, in the Scottish Highlands in 2012. Living on the island has a relaxed feel, with many restaurants, bars and outdoor activities. The practice itself is situated in Portree, just a short walk to the Cuillin hills.

With strong relationships within the community, local business, schools and the medical centre, it is a busy practice which caters to its loyal patient base and to the bustling tourist trade. Every day is unique and the chance to meet people from all over the world.

The team dynamic is a large part of the branchs success. From starting as a team of two in 2012, there are now five team members, including Jenny, who works full time as an Optometrist in the practice and Janet, the Practice Manager.

In 2018, the team were finalists in the Practice Growth category at the Optician Awards, and the business has continued to invest in the practice following this achievement. In September 2018, a major refit took place; the practice now boasts two test-rooms and facilities for glazing. Along with the new look and enhanced facilities, we have updated the equipment to all the latest testing equipment with a phoropter refraction system, OCT and a new visual fields machine. We have also introduced Audiology into the practice to further increase the services we can offer to our patients.

Monday to Friday - 9am - 5:30pm; Saturday - 9am - 4pm
