Main Purpose of Role

 

The role will support the National NHS Operations Manager in the timely execution and management of NHS contracts worth c.£40m a year (this is to include Audiology, EOS. GOS & Domiciliary) and ensuring the standards and terms set by the NHS within each contract, and any changes to those standards, are implemented and communicated effectively and efficiently via robust internal processes.

 

This role will also be focused on managing, developing and protecting our relationships with NHS Clinical Commissioning Groups from a contracting perspective to support our overarching NHS business growth strategy and annual plan tactics, through protecting the position of Specsavers as a trusted partner of the NHS.

 

Accountability for the management and functionality of our NHS e-referral system and upholding the associated security requirements will also fall within this role which is critical to ensure that the flow of referrals into the business is continuous, enabling partners to maximise referral volume and benefit from the profitability that NHS contracts have to offer.

 

The role will also support and oversee colleagues within the contracting team, ensuring they carry out their specific responsibilities and objectives efficiently and effectively.

 

Key Responsibilities

 

  • Protecting Specsavers position as a trusted partner of the NHS and the future of our NHS business through ensuring the NHS Contracting Admin team deliver the following key actions:-
    • Negotiation and completion of all contractual documentation and terms from document receipt to signature in a timely manner, ensuring all anomalies/unfavourable terms are identified and eradicated to protect the business and our partners, and prevent any legal challenges in the future.
    • Ensuring the business understands and upholds contractual NHS standards and requirements, and any changes to those standards and requirements through a robust communications program with internal stakeholders
    • Ensuring all NHS complaints/contractual challenges are dealt with effectively and efficiently to prevent any brand damage or risk of contract suspension
    • Delivery of all contractual reporting requirements accurately and on time
    • Secure storage of all legal documentation and effective management of the Contract Pod system

 

Skills and Experience

 

Essential Skills

  • Strong literacy, numeracy and communication skills
  • Skilled in MS Office
  • Experience of developing administrative systems and procedures from concept through to implementation
  • Experience with public sector contracting
  • Ability to manage and deliver various projects at the same time
  • Ability to project manage and coordinate a number of stakeholders to obtain results
  • High standards of attention to detail and ability to follow through and deliver on timelines and targets
  • Experience with contract management, administration and negotiation within the healthcare sector preferred
