Specsavers in Durham are looking for an Optometrist as well as an immediate Partner (or Partner in Development) to join their store.  The focus at this store, is about pulling together and working as a team to ensure that our valued patients have an excellent experience. Become our new Optometrist at Specsavers Durham, a highly successful store with a great reputation for staff progression and the very highest standards of customer care.   In addition to our Optometrist vacancy, there is a current immediate opening for a Store Partner, or alternatively, a Partner in Development post allowing you to train into a Partner role over a set period.  Whichever option you choose, this is a great opportunity to take your career to the next level!  Alternatively, join us on a 3–6-month fixed term contract just to see if the move is right for you.

Our Director Andy worked at other opticians before joining Specsavers. Andy started as an OA with D&A and strived on to become the director of a VE store, then 10 years ago became the Director of Durham and more recently Arnison, he is currently seeking both an Optometrist and a business Partner

Specsavers Durham proudly offer an amazing range of clinical appointments, working closely with the Sunderland Eye Infirmary for referrals, in store MECs clinics, development and IP. They also understand that it’s not all work and no play; outside work commitments come into consideration so if you need to work specific hours to match your hobbies, your family needs, they understand and can work with you to agree on a work schedule that suits everyone.

What’s on offer?

  • Basic salary of up to £60,000 per annum depending on experience
  • £10,000 welcome bonus
  • 33 days annual leave
  • Flexible working
  • High standard of latest equipment
  • IP training
  • Regular team events
  • Professional fees covered
  • Pension contribution
  • Linked with local hospitals for additional MECs clinics
  • 3–6-month fixed term contracts available
  • Chance to work across 2 stores, Durham (City Centre) and Arnison (Shopping Centre)

Our Optometrists provide eye examinations and a contact lens service, meeting high clinical standards as well as strict NHS guidelines. Equally, they provide every customer with clear advice and peace of mind which comes from being in expert hands. To be part of our team, you’ll need to provide the same unique blend of customer care and professional excellence, which of course, contributes to the store’s overall success.

This position will take you into the vibrant and cultured City of Durham. With excellent transport connections, it is not uncommon for people to commute from far and wide to be part of such a colourful place. Not only is the University/Cathedral town brimming with beautiful views and historical buildings, it’s perfect for families, as well as playing host to fantastic night-life. As an optometrist in Durham your client base comes with great variety, range, and plenty of familiar faces of course. In this large, fast-paced store there is never a dull moment.
