Optometry Development Manager

Are you a qualified optometrist or dispensing optician looking to see more than the testing room? We’ve got an opportunity for an optometrist or dispensing optician with a passion for creating and delivering development programmes for our pre-registration students and newly qualified optometrists to join our professional team as an optometry development manager.

What can you expect from the role?

Acting as an ambassador for the brand, we’ll look to you to coach and develop our students and newly qualified colleagues to develop their strong clinical skills and commercial awareness throughout their training programs.

 

As well as creating and delivering development programs, you’ll also work alongside our professional development tutors, making sure we look for areas of opportunities inline with the college of optometrist scheme for registration.

 

Working collaboratively with stakeholders internally and externally, you’ll develop local professional support networks for our students, supervisors, and operational management teams throughout the transition from student to newly qualified professional.

 

The beauty of this role is no two days are ever the same. From visiting our students and newly qualified optometrists in store to offer coaching and advise to promoting the role of the supervisor to increase our pre-registration offering, you’ll also develop relationships with the universities to promote the awareness of the program we offer to students currently studying.

About you

Alongside your professional status with the GOC or CORU, you’ll also have a background of being an experienced pre-registration supervisor, ideally with qualifications of teaching, assessing, and examining experience post qualification.

 

You’ll have good knowledge of the contractual and regulatory requirements o GOC registrants and be a college of optometrist member. Ideally, you’ll have previous experience of creating, developing and facilitating education activity.

 

Given the nature of the role, you’ll have the ability to plan, organise and identify areas of opportunity in the clinical and commercial performance of our colleagues, working with them to create action plans through coaching, mentoring, and influencing.
