About the region:

The North East of England is a fantastic and diverse place to live.  Sitting just below Scotland, the North East of England is surrounded by beautiful countryside and rugged coastline.   Home to three thriving cities of Newcastle upon Tyne, Sunderland and Durham, plus many market towns, you might be surprised to know that you are only three hours from London by train and with two international airports, you're only a flight away from other continents!   Along the coastline you'll find dramatic beaches, many of which are popular with surfers and traditional seaside fishing towns.  Within our cities you'll find museums, galleries, the most amazing restaurants and nightlife, and to top it off, the cost of living being far more affordable than the rest of the country,  yet our salary packages on offer here at Specsavers are even more competitive!    In addition, we offer a Weclome Bonus of up to £10,000, which you can use to assist in relcoating/commuting to the regtion, or if you live locally, put in your pocket!

About us:
Specsavers began more than 35 years ago with the vision of two optometrists, Doug and Mary Perkins, who set out to provide best-value eyecare to everybody. Their passion for optometry has led Specsavers to become the largest privately-owned optical group in the world, delivering high-quality, affordable optical and hearing care in 10 countries. And it continues to shape the lives and experience of thousands of colleagues who are developing their careers with us across the globe. We are proud of how far we’ve come as a business, now we want to see you grow with us too.

We boast fully equipped test rooms, the latest clinical technology (including OCT), and experienced teams which include fully trained optical assistants, so everything is in place to let you focus on what you do best.

We are passionate about the clinical development of our team, we would support you with extra courses and specialisms that interest you. Whatever your ambitions, from WOPEC qualifications and independent prescribing to paediatric accreditations or enhanced optical services, we’ll do everything we can to help you be the best clinician you can be.  Our Optometrists are an integral part of our store management team, so we’re keen to get you up to speed outside the test room too. With ILM courses, Pre-Reg supervision and the Specsavers Partnership scheme (Pathway) all available to explore. Along with your clinical expertise – this will stand you in good stead if you choose to become a store director yourself one day.

What we’re looking for
Alongside being a qualified and GOC registered Optometrist, we are searching for someone who shares our ethos. Someone who wants to grow, develop and offer exceptional customer care along the way. We want a practitioner who prides themselves on their clinical judgment, that isn’t afraid of a hands-on approach and who is keen to get involved and build rapport with the rest of the team. In summary, we’re looking for a skilled resident Optometrists to join us, be part of the team and assist in driving our practice forward.
