The work environment and what to expect;

Whilst adhering to traditional business values, this optician has a young leadership team which invests heavily in the latest technology and training. Most importantly, they are an independent – and because they are agile, they can implement new ideas quickly and easily. The managing director, knows all he staff personally, and sits down for a chat with each staff member once a quarter.
If you’re interested in joining this independent group of opticians, you’ll need to have the same high standards as they do. Every last detail counts, from taking customers’ coats at the door to exceptionally thorough eye and hearing care examinations.

Responsibilities of the Optometrist

” Determine the best eye care solutions for patients in eye examinations and contact lens consultations, clearly and concisely communicate those solutions to the support staff and dispensing colleagues through specific recommendations.
” Perform all consultations, including eye examinations and contact lens reviews to the company standard.
” Clear understanding and proactive approach to solutions meetings and three way handover, with a good standard of product knowledge for contact lenses, spectacle lenses, frames and sunglasses.
” Maintain utmost professionalism and confidentiality with respect to our patients.
” Follow GOC and college of optometry guidelines in practice and undertake CET and further development.
” Work with the practice team and other colleagues to deliver obsessively great service to every ECC.

Requirements of the Optometrist

” Excellent communication skills
” Active listening skills
” Ability to be understood – verbally and written
” Ability to build relationships with Eye Care Clients.
” Excellent accuracy and attention to detail.
” Ability to diagnose, solve problems and make clinical decisions.
” Excellent record keeping.
” Ability to plan, prioritise workloads and meet deadlines.
” Ability to lead by example and promote new technology.
” High integrity and commitment to good governance and ensuring achieve clinical legal requirements.
” Optometry degree and GOC registered.

Compensation for the Optometrist

” A competitive basic salary of up to £55,000
” Open to full or part time (4 or 5 days)
” 5 weeks’ holiday plus bank holidays pro rata plus additional days holiday for your birthday each year.
” 3% employer/5%employee pension.

” Paid professional fees (GOC and professional indemnity which is currently the AOP). If part time pro rata.
