Reporting into the Head of Finance, the Management Accountant will run the day to day finance function in a role that combines accounting and business management.

A management accountant's role is to look to the future. You will analyse the performance of the business and advise on how to prevent problems, adapt to changing circumstances and improve value. As well as assessing revenue streams, this will also include managing and reducing operational and production costs and implementing newer, more effective strategies.

As a Management Accountant, you will need to be great with figures and have the ability to explain financial information clearly and concisely so the correct operational action can be taken. You will prepare, develop and analyse financial information for the organisation's management team to use when making well-informed decisions, which will help to secure future stability, growth and profitability. You will establish and maintain financial policies and management information systems, as well as provide a high-quality support service by liaising with management colleagues on all aspects of finance.

Responsibilities Key Accountabilities: 

    Co-ordination and completion of monthly reporting, ultimately moving to weekly reportingPreparation of annual budgets and business plansCashflow managementAnalysing financial data and sharing information on a daily, weekly and monthly basisEnsure compliance with GDPR across the business, acting as Data Protection OfficerSupport operational teams to understand and excel in their rolesLine management and development of accounts teamInspire and motivate our teams through leading by exampleWorking to and positively contributing to our company culture and values
Responsibilities:

    Preparing periodic financial statements, including profit and loss accounts, budgets, cash flows, variance analysis and commentariesProviding a support service by working with all departments and the management team to help make financial decisionsEnsuring spending is kept in line with the budgetInforming key strategic decisions and formulating business strategiesAdvising on the financial implications of business decisionsAnalysing financial performance and contributing to medium and long-term business planning and forecastsImplement a comprehensive data protection strategy through development of transparent data protection policies, systems and procedures to ensure compliance with GDPR and data protection laws. Offering professional judgement on financial matters and advising on ways of improving business performanceInterpreting and communicating financial data to non-financial managersLiaising with other function managers to put finances and accounts in contextMonitoring and evaluating financial information systems and suggesting improvements where neededImplementing corporate governance procedures, risk management and internal controls.Management of the accounts team
 

    Qualified accountant (CA, ACCA, CIMA) Two years experience as a management accountantExperience of managing and developing a small team Successful track record of providing management accounting/ financial management support within a small-medium businessAdvanced working knowledge of, and experience of, implementing and ensuring adherence to financial controls and proceduresExperience of designing and producing financial reports and variance/exception analysisKnowledge of data protection laws and practicesExcellent written communication and oral presentation skillsWorking knowledge of Sage Intacct (or similar accounting software
