Visioncall is made up of a large, multiskilled team all working together to help individuals see better and live better. Our Visioncall Lab team work together to produce glasses for our patients across the UK. We base our service on our patients needs to the highest quality. You will be part of a team responsible for manufacturing lenses for spectacles working as part of a production line to support our UK operation.

This is a challenging but rewarding role for an experienced Glazing Lab technician where you will be part of a team helping to enable our patients to See Better Live Better.


The key goals for the Glazing Lab Technician include:


To be an intrinsic and multifunctional part of the whole production line from end to end.
Be quality focused and adopt a right first-time approach.
To actively participate in the achievement of the Visioncall Lab team goals.
Highlight any concerns re the production to line management immediately.
To comply with all H&S guidance (ensure reducing the spread of COVID 19)

Responsibilities The Role


The Glazing Lab Technician will be responsible for the following duties:


Multiskilled in all aspects of the production line.

Importing orders.
Engraving glasses.
Dealing with queries from branch partners.
Safely operating glazing and surfacing machinery.
To surface and glaze glasses to comply with British Standards.
Cutting and grinding optical lenses into frames.
Blocking and picking lenses.
Surfacing Bifocals, Varifocal and Special Single Vision Lenses.
Focimetry of lenses.
Final quality checking.
Understand and interpret prescriptions to ensure customer received best lens choice.
Understanding our partners business and support them to meet goals.
Dealing with customer queries regarding prescriptions, resolving any complaints in an efficient and professional manner.
Ordering lenses from suppliers.
Dispatching orders to various sites.
Update dashboards to ensure efficiencies and effectiveness to ensure meeting KPI s.
Maintaining communication with the rest of the team.
Maintain confidentially regarding the company business/employees/patients/ and their families.
Cover all aspects of lab on a rotation basis.
Always represent Visioncall in a professional and positive manner.
Carry out any other reasonable requests as may be required.
Follow our company s health, safety and environmental policies, guidelines, and procedures.
Ensure the lab and your workstation is always tidy and maintained.
Report any incidents in the workplace to senior management immediately.

Essential skills and experience

To be successful within the role you will possess the following:

Prior glazing experience is essential.
Prior production and surfacing experience would be advantageous however not essential.
Good working knowledge of computer software s and operation.
Ability to communicate effectively with colleagues and clients.
Good knowledge and understanding of health and safety in a production environment.
