We are looking for a part-time optometrist with a passion for patient care to join our growing team of optometrists delivering first class service in our diabetic eye screening clinic in Ipswich, Suffolk

The role

Your role will be to take charge of the clinic carrying out diabetic eye screening using slit lamp and Volk. You will be working as part of the wider eye screening programme working alongside a team of other screeners and graders. You will have access to a variety of learning opportunities as part of the programme including the Health Screeners diploma in diabetic eye screening as well as regular training and development days. The role will be weekdays, no Saturday or Sunday clinics required.

About you

You will be a registered optometrist with the General Optical Council. You will have a friendly and accessible manner be a good communicator with patience and empathy and be happy working closely as part of a team. No previous experience in diabetic eye screening is necessary as training will be provided, however you should have excellent clinical skills using a slit lamp and Volk lens to view the fundus. Experience of hospital optometry especially working in medical retina clinics would be desirable but not essential but you should have an interest in developing your clinical skills.
