A very exciting opportunity has become available for an Optical Assistant on a full time, permanent basis in the Bedfordshire area with an independent chain of opticians. This would be a mobile role between a few of their practices all local within 30-minutes of each other.

Each of their practices are situated in busy high street locations in small market towns and have a large and loyal customer base. They have a very friendly and welcoming team in place, who all work for each other to deliver the highest levels of care possible and they have a very good local reputation for excellence in customer care.

As an Optical Assistant, you will spend your time on various aspects of meeting your customer’s needs. The company can offer various routes of progression within the company therefore if you are enthusiastic and prove yourself then you may be able to go on to the DO course or progress in management.

Responsibilities of the Optical Assistant

You will work within a busy practice in an all-round role. You will be helping patients with all their eyecare needs, including contact lenses, advising on designer frames, NHS eyecare and hearing health checks. You will be dispensing spectacles and making sales as well as undertaking pre-screening, contact lens teaches and associated admin work.

Requirements for the Optical Assistant

You will need a minimum of 1 years of experience as an Optical Assistant and it’s essential you can dispense spectacles to all levels. You will be pre-screening patients, delivering contact lens teaches and will be very focused on delivering the highest levels of customer service.

Compensation for the Optical Assistant

On offer for the right person is a competitive salary starting at £17,500
A fuel allowance is on offer when travelling between the different practices.
There will be the opportunity to further your career and either go into management or go on the DO course.
You will have 28 days holiday including bank holidays.
You will be working full-time, 5 days a week 9:00am – 5:30pm in the week and 9:00am – 4:00pm on Saturdays, NO Sunday’s.
