About us:
Specsavers began more than 35 years ago with the vision of two optometrists, Doug and Mary Perkins, who set out to provide best-value eyecare to everybody. Their passion for optometry has led Specsavers to become the largest privately-owned optical group in the world, delivering high-quality, affordable optical and hearing care in 10 countries. And it continues to shape the lives and experience of thousands of colleagues who are developing their careers with us across the globe. We are proud of how far we’ve come as a business, now we want to see you grow with us too.

Become our next Optometrist at Specsavers in Armthorpe – a highly successful store with a great reputation for staff progression and unparalleled support.

What’s on Offer?

  • Outstanding annual salary based on experience
  • Pension contribution
  • Support with CET
  • GOC & college fees
  • Exceptional clinical and professional development opportunities
  • Access to cutting-edge clinical technology such as OCT
  • Free parking

With a focus on flexibility, we are open to part-time applicants and will consider any working pattern to suit you. So, whether you need condensed hours or early finishes, we’re open to making it work – but let’s talk about that later.

We are passionate about the clinical development of our team, and as our new Optometrist, we would to support you with extra courses and specialisms that interest you. Whatever your ambitions, from WOPEC qualifications and independent prescribing to paediatric accreditations or enhanced optical services, we’ll do everything we can to help you be the best clinician you can be.

We’re fully equipped with 2 test rooms and a team of 10 – which includes fully trained optical assistants, so everything is in place to let you focus on what you do best.

We offer enhanced clinical services including cataract appointments, glaucoma testing, minor eye conditions etc. We always aim to be the very best we can be – both clinically and in terms of customer service. Our experienced, diverse and friendly team are always on hand to offer support and take care of patient’s needs, meaning that as our new Optometrist, you can focus on offering a first-class sight test to our loyal customers.

Our location
We’re located in the lovely village of Armthorpe, known for its thriving local community with an abundance of shops and amenities – perfect for people looking to escape to the country. It is within an easy distance of major towns including Doncaster, Rotherham and Sheffield, whilst benefitting from being a short commute from some beautiful areas including The River Torne, and Stainforth and Keadby Canal. Despite being remote, we have great transport links including regular buses, and we’re very close to the M18 motorway, with free parking on site.

Platinum employer
Our store is an accredited Platinum Employer – this means you can expect an exceptional employee experience every single day you work here. The Platinum Employer Scheme is part of the Specsavers drive to become a famous place to work. Stores with this accreditation have been verified on five key employer standards: Recruitment, Performance Management and Reward, Talent Management, Learning and Development and Employee Engagement.

What we’re looking for
Alongside being a qualified and GOC registered Optometrist, we are searching for someone who shares our store’s ethos. Someone who wants to grow, develop and offer exceptional customer care along the way. We want a practitioner who prides themselves on their clinical judgment, that isn’t afraid of a hands-on approach and who is keen to get involved and build rapport with the rest of the team. In summary, we’re looking for a skilled resident Optometrist to join us, be part of the team and assist in driving our practice forward.
