Optometry jobs at Specsavers

Optometrist, Hexham, Northumberland

Specsavers in Hexham are looking for an ambitious and talented Optometrist. We recognise that our people are the key to our success. That’s why, at Specsavers in Hexham, we do everything we can to ensure our team get the best from us too – from market-leading training, access to cutting-edge technology and a personal development plan built around you. Become our next Optometrist at Specsavers in Hexham – a highly successful store with a great reputation for staff progression and unparalleled support.

What’s on Offer?

  • An outstanding annual salary, which we can discuss later (depending on experience)
  • £5k welcome or relocation bonus
  • Part-Time working, 3-4 days a week
  • Pension contribution
  • Outstanding clinical and professional development opportunities
  • Support with CET
  • Access to the latest clinical technology such as OCT
  • Facilities for DVLA testing and Diabetic Screening
  • History of supporting progression, current director started as employed Optometrist in store

Our Optometrists are an integral part of our store management team, so we’re keen to get you up to speed outside the test room too. With ILM courses, Pre-Reg supervision and the Specsavers Partnership scheme (Pathway) all available to explore. Along with your clinical expertise – this will stand you in good stead if you choose to become a store director yourself one day.

Our location

We’re located in the beautiful town of Hexham, known for its history – perfect for people looking to escape to the country. Not only is the landscape brimming with incredible views and stunning architecture, it is within an easy distance of major towns including Newcastle, Carlisle and Durham whilst benefitting from being a short commute from some beautiful areas including the Pennines. Despite being remote, we have great transport links including a train station within walking distance of the store, and we’re close to the A69 main road.

Platinum Employer

Our store is an accredited Platinum Employer – this means you can expect an exceptional employee experience every single day you work here. The Platinum Employer Scheme is part of the Specsavers drive to become a famous place to work. Stores with this accreditation have been verified on five key employer standards: Recruitment, Performance Management and Reward, Talent Management, Learning and Development and Employee Engagement.

What we’re looking for

Alongside being a qualified and GOC registered Optometrist, we are searching for someone who shares our store’s ethos. Someone who wants to grow, develop and offer exceptional customer care along the way. We want a practitioner who prides themselves on their clinical judgment, that isn’t afraid of a hands-on approach and who is keen to get involved and build rapport with the rest of the team. In summary, we’re looking for a skilled resident Optometrist to join us, be part of the team and assist in driving our practice forward.
