Following approval from the GOC to allow the start of our new optometry programme, the University of Huddersfield is continuing to expand and is seeking to make an appointment at Lecturer or Senior Lecturer to contribute to teaching and research in the new Department of Optometry and Vision Sciences in the School of Applied Sciences.

We are looking for applications from GOC registered optometrists currently involved in an academic environment or looking to develop their academic career. Ideally, with a PhD in a relevant area, you will either already have established or be suitably placed to establish an independent research record in optometry and/or the vision sciences. Applicants without a PhD may be considered for Lecturer roles with evidence of substantive clinical experience. Applications are particularly welcomed from individuals with experience and interest in delivering specialist teaching at undergraduate level (e.g. low vision, ocular abnormalities). Please note that registration with the GOC is an essential requirement for this role.

You will join the development of a well-equipped and funded Optometry initiative in the School of Applied Sciences linking with the cross-subject research collaborations that already exist across pharmaceutical scientists, forensic scientists, chemists, geographers and biologists within the School.

The School is committed to Athena SWAN principles and the promotion of equality and diversity and is proud to hold a Silver Athena SWAN Award.
