The School of Applied Sciences is seeking to appoint a leading expert (Professor/Reader) in optometry and the vision sciences. The successful candidate will lead the development of a research base in the new department of Optometry and Vision Sciences and advance the School’s strategic goals of international excellence and leadership more generally. You will further the School's position by undertaking world leading research and impact work, and through the generation of substantive research and/or enterprise income. You will also offer research leadership and mentoring to early career researchers. The School is committed to internationalisation and the successful candidate will need to have a proven record of international collaboration and research leadership. Please note that registration with the GOC is an essential requirement.
You will join the development of a well-equipped and funded Optometry initiative in the School of Applied Sciences linking with the cross-subject research collaborations that already exist across pharmaceutical scientists, forensic scientists, chemists, geographers, and biologists within the School.
The School is committed to Athena SWAN principles and the promotion of equality and diversity and is proud to hold a Bronze Athena SWAN Award.
The University of Huddersfield has been recognised as a gold-rated institution in the Teaching Excellence Framework and is committed to highest standards in the generation and dissemination of knowledge.
