Optometrist - Cramlington Role summary

We are looking for an Optometrist to join us on a full or part time basis to work across our stores in Cramlington.

Specsavers has been going from strength to strength, ever since the business started back in 1984. We strive for the highest clinical standards – and believe that the customer should be at the heart of everything we do. We also recognise that our people are critical to our past and future success – so we do everything we can to make sure they get the experience and career they’re looking for: from outstanding training and a personal development plan, to excellent benefits and unstinting support. The business has nearly 1,500 stores across 12 countries – and is still growing. We want you to be part of this outstanding success story.

The Stores:

Our store in Cramlington is what we consider to be a medium sized store, with the store hosting 4 testing rooms. The store is equipped with automatic nidek phoropters and has a large, supportive team that will pick up all the dispensing and pre-screening, so you can focus on delivering expert eye examinations.

This store is an accredited Platinum Employer, which means you can expect an exceptional employee experience every single day you work here. The Platinum Employer Scheme is part of our drive to become a famous place to work. Stores with this accreditation have been verified on five key employer standards: Recruitment, Performance Management and Reward, Talent Management, Learning and Development and Employee Engagement.

As well as eye examinations, we’re also providing Enhanced Optical Services for the region, with our Optometrists already delivering MECS and Glaucoma clinics.

You:

As a professional, you’ll be an expert at putting people at ease and welcoming customers with a naturally personable approach. You will talk customers through the eye examination process and talk through their options with them. What’s more, you must be passionate about what you do with an aptitude for organisation – which means you keep accurate records and always have up-to-date knowledge of the latest developments in your field.

In return for your hard work and dedication we will continue to develop your career both commercially and clinically. By supporting you through ILM and Joint Venture Pathway, you could become an Ophthalmic Director of your own Specsavers store, or perhaps you’re looking to develop clinically through EOS accreditations and become an EOS examiner, Regional Chair for AOP or GOC board member – these are just some of the positions our Optometrists up and down the country hold.

This role also includes:

  • Competitive basic salary
  • 5 weeks’ holiday entitlement per annum
  • Private health insurance, including dental cover
  • Bonus scheme to reflect your day to day performance, worth up to £600 a month!
  • Pension scheme
