My client is a small group of independent Opticians based in the Hampshire/Dorset area, and they are looking to recruit a full time Dispensing Optician Manager at their Poole practice. This is a long established, family run group which is recognised for its personalised and professional service. Role

  • Day to day running of a double testing room practice (currently only 1 in use)
  • Responsible for all operational Branch aspects including dispensing of spectacles and other sales, smooth administrative running of branch; maintaining stock levels cost effectively, sourcing sale products appropriately, managing branch rota and branch team, keeping up to date with the practice management system (Optix), maintaining a high level of customer service in accordance with the Core Values and processes
  • Work alongside Senior Management and nominated deputies to assess local market conditions, and identify current, and prospective marketing/sales opportunities.
  • Responsible to ensure that the 'OLR' (Optometrist Led Referral) system and/or any similar Sales Process determined by Senior Management, is implemented, and operated, in full as specified.
  • Working in conjunction with Senior Management in the creation of branch objectives and forecasts,
  • Responsible for measuring and ensuring any requested management information, including sales figures and general individual and branch data etc, are all collected accurately and returned in a timely manner
  • Manage allocated budgets and allocate funds appropriately where and when applicable, eg managing stock levels
  • Set an example to staff through your own behaviour in regards to standards of professionalism, behaviour, attitude, and output
  • Engage with the branch team in a constant process of training, coaching, development and motivation
  • Responsible for undertaking documented staff appraisals, and performance reviews at regular intervals
  • Develop and share 'best practice' ideas with other branches and Senior Management on business opportunities and needs; Also identifying and highlighting areas where practice improvements can be made, with recommendations for suitable action.
  • Address customer and employee satisfaction issues promptly, in conjunction with Senior Management if necessary
  • Adhere to high ethical standards, and comply with all regulations/applicable laws
  • Use every opportunity to network to improve the presence and reputation of the branch and company
  • Be aware of competition whether local, national or online and provide feedback

Salary and Benefits

  • Salary between £25,000 to £30,000
  • Profit share bonus scheme

  • No unsociable hours, Sundays or Bank holidays

The role is to work 5 days a week including Saturdays with working hours being from 8.50am to 5.30pm.
