Working as a team alongside the Optometrist, the role of the Optical Assistant plays a major part within the business and helps to make a real difference to our Patient’s lives. You will travel to different locations / nursing homes across the Southern region, building engaged relationships with Care Home Managers, Nurses, Care Staff and their residents. We’re about empowering our people and coaching them to develop and think for themselves, enabling them to really help elderly and vulnerable adults with their eye care needs.

Preferable Knowledge and Experience:

  • You must be able to communicate effectively with elderly and vulnerable adults in a positive and professional manner with patience and empathy
  • You should be passionate about working within the Optical domiciliary sector
  • Experience in optical dispensing and fitting spectacles is essential
  • Able to confidently dispense spectacles in single vision and multifocal lenses
  • Accurately complete the NHS GOS forms including understanding voucher values
  • Excellent communication skills both written and spoken
  • Comfortable working with computers/ various CRM Systems although full training is provided
  • Highly organised with an excellent attention to detail, displaying a high degree of accuracy in your work
  • Excellent Customer Service skills and able to problem solve
  • Working well as part of a team
  • Confident of working in a high volume environment and be able to work at pace managing your day to day responsibilities
  • Able to confidently dispense spectacles in single vision and multifocal lenses  

Primary Responsibilities

  • Ensure every Patient receives excellent service and a great experience
  • Act in a professional manner at all times
  • Act as the main point of contact during the test day with the Care Home Staff and Management team
  • Communicate internally and externally to ensure accurate and detailed information
  • Work towards and positively contribute to our organisational culture and values  

Candidates must have a full clean UK driving licence and as part of our recruitment checks a DBS will be obtained for successful candidates.
