We’ll expect you to take real ownership of your department, reflecting our commercial know-how and our passion for customer care – this will mean taking an in-depth look at the relevant facts and figures, and using these to maximise your department’s efficiency. Of course, this will also mean getting your colleagues on board and motivating them to make the necessary improvements.
You’ll personally take responsibility for their training, growth, retention and performance, as you ensure they’re meeting the very highest standards. Together, you’ll drive forward sales while aiming to become the number one choice for the local community – and creating an environment that’s fun for staff and shoppers alike.
The ins and outs:
You’ll be responsible for the day-to-day management of the Optical practice
Ensure customers get the best optical products, legally dispensed
Plan efficient eye tests and contact lens clinics that meet customers’ needs
Take responsibility for training, coaching and inspiring colleagues
Continually improving your department.
What you're going to need:
You’ll need to be registered with the General Optical Council as a fully qualified optometrist
And be on track to meet the statutory points requirement for Continued Education & Training
Able to have tough conversations when necessary – you won’t be afraid to get your point
across or stand your ground
Superb communication, co-ordination, planning and organisational skills
Flair for multi-tasking and prioritising a busy, varied workload
Able to take both a short-term and a long-term perspective – we’re looking for someone who’s
comfortable thinking strategically.
