Hours: Full time (1.0 FTE)

Basis:  Indefinite

Grade: J (£50618-58655) (Market rate supplement potentially available)

The School of Medicine wishes to appoint an Academic lead for an exciting new area of provision. This strategic development is an opportunity to work within a committed and enthusiastic team. As a member of the Medical School Team you will enjoy a significant impact on the School’s future. You will be instrumental in the development of vision sciences (initially optometry and ophthalmic dispensing) within the School, with particular emphasis on quality assurance and governance to meet both internal and external body requirements for vision sciences education in line with School and organisational strategy.

To be equal to the challenge, you will need experience of professional leadership, both strategic and operational, including experience of leading and managing provision in the area of vision sciences. Your track record includes successful management and implementation of governance, risk and quality assurance processes to meet internal and professional, regulatory and statutory body requirements.

You will hold a good honours degree and PhD level qualification (or working towards) in a related discipline, alongside proven interpersonal skills to work with industry, academic, clinical and management colleagues at all levels and develop strong working relationships with senior stakeholders. You will be registered with the General Optical Council as an optometrist and have recent clinical experience along with strong organisational skills, resilience and determination.
