Optical Operations Manager - for a small chain of independent practices - Bristol - 12 months' maternity cover form January 2018

An Optical Operations Manager is required to cover 12 months' maternity cover for my client who is an innovative, award winning, independent Opticians owned by two Optometrists. They have 3 practices in and around Bristol and have a team of 25 people. They focus on providing an individually tailored, perfect customer experience with a wide collection of beautiful and bespoke frames and  provide excellent clinical and professional services.

They motivate their teams to be passionate about frames, enthusiastic, smart and put the customer first, encouraging excellent interpersonal and communication skills and attention to detail. Always offering an excellent and professional service.

About The Role

As Operations Manager, you will ensure the practices are run to the standards outlined above.

Financially, as well as ensuring the practice hits it's sales and gross profit targets, the Operations Manager will have budgetary responsibilities and you will be expected to manage costs effectively. You will be expected to negotiate the best prices from all our suppliers, from business stationery through to optical supplies. You will check and prep all invoices and receipts for processing by the book keeper.

You will have strong people management skills and provide leadership support to all teams and motivate staff to achieve goals, both business and personal. You will work with the Practice Managers to identify skills gaps and training and / or recruitment to address those gaps. You will manage the business to ensure that all three practices come together to deliver our Vision and Values and maintain our strong reputation in the market-place.

You will have a mind-set of continuous improvement, recommending and / or implementing new policies, procedures and in-house systems where necessary, ensuring they are fit for purpose.
