DO, but not just any. Read below.
Hi Dispensing Opticians,
Instead of doing a standard job ad, I thought I would write up the exact situation!
An independent client of mine contacted me saying they had just added a new store to their portfolio.
This practice, their 7th, is in the Borough of Kensington - this is fitting as all their current stores are in affluent upper middle-class areas of the Home Counties.
This company involves itself in ‘hyper-clinical’ practices and medical triage. As a group they regularly provide feedback on referrals which highlights the talent which this group of optometrists and DO’s posses. This company DOES NOT employ non-GOC registered members.
There will be no ‘manager’ as such, due to the strict hiring policy. You don’t hire 4 of the best people money can buy and then have a someone unqualified telling them how to do their jobs. You and the 3 other GOC members will run the show top to bottom.
With this new store, I am the sole consultant in charge of acquiring new staff and I was told to get 2 optometrist and 2 DO’s.
So far, I have found the two optometrists - the 1st, I got from a London hospital who, funnily enough, used to deal with the referrals from this companies’ other practices. (S)he said they are more clinical than the hospital and did happily join. The 2nd is a lecturer of optometry whom has published many works on things such as AMD, prosthetic contact lenses and low vision to name 3 of over 15 publications. Both could get any jobs they want, and they have chosen this.
The DO has been a high-end west London DO for over 6 years and knows the demographic like the back of their hand, they was earning over 40k a year as a locum. They were so overwhelmed by what we are putting together here, that they have accepted less money to come on board.
SO, the final piece of the puzzle... YOU. You will need independent practice experience, to be diligent, organised and ready to develop. Call me for more info 0207 952 6672.
