About Anglia Ruskin University:

Anglia Ruskin is a vibrant workplace and our University is gaining prominence both nationally and internationally. We have ambitious plans for the future and we are determined that our students and staff will realise their full potential. Our main campuses in the cities of Cambridge, Chelmsford and Peterborough have been transformed with major capital investment. With an annual turnover of over £200m, we are a major force for higher education and one of the largest universities in the East of England.

About the role:

You’ll be joining our Department of Vision and Hearing Sciences, a highly rated department with excellent resources for teaching and research. We are a forward-looking and enthusiastic department with a vision that combines commitment to a strong and active research culture with excellence in learning and teaching. Our research was rated as ‘world leading’ in terms of its quality and impact in the most recent REF2014. The department hosts its own research laboratories and research groups and benefits from use of the facilities in our state of the art University Eye Clinic.

With a background in optometry, you’ll have a PhD or Professional Doctorate in Optometry, Vision Sciences or related field (For grade 5: PhD or nearing completion within the first 18 months of employment). Ideally you’ll have an interest in ocular disease and contact lenses, though interests in other areas are also welcomed. You’ll demonstrate the ability to conduct independent research that complements the Department’s strengths. You’ll have experience teaching in a higher education setting and will contribute to the broad range of the Department's activities.

We offer an extensive range of benefits including a generous holiday entitlement, occupational pension schemes, training and development opportunities, travel to work scheme and a competitive relocation package.
