What is it like to work at Specsavers Aberdeen? Role summary

The lifestyle, the career, the team, a fantastic salary package….this opportunity just needs you!

The Role

With a fantastic salary on offer, including an excellent bonus scheme, private health care, pension and a relocation package for those on the move, we’re seeking a talented Optometrist to join our passionate team in Specsavers Aberdeen. This is the perfect opportunity for an ambitious individual who shares our passions for providing an outstanding service to join our growing team in the North East of Scotland.

The Team

You’ll be joining a diverse and motivated team in Aberdeen who enjoy the varied challenges they face on a daily basis. We took the time to speak to two of our recently qualified Optoms to see what it is they are enjoying the most about working in Aberdeen:

Allison, Optometrist, qualified in August 2015 –  “Working in Aberdeen has definitely been the major factor in my development. I regularly see ocular pathologies and have become familiar with the clinical signs which gives me confidence in treating conditions. Gaining the qualifications in SPEC scheme and foreign body removal allows development early on, followed later by the ability to co-prescribe once over a year qualified. The opportunity to study Independent Prescribing has allowed my clinical skills and knowledge to expand even further, and given me more confidence when dealing with triages.

“The Aberdeen store has a great diversity of people which allows daily routine to be enjoyable. I feel I receive great support from the management and they are genuinely invested in making me my best and helping me to continue to develop.”

Kirstin, Optometrist, qualified in August 2015 – “Since joining Aberdeen Specsavers in August 2015 I have greatly increased the depth of my knowledge across a range of business and optometry areas. As a newly qualified optometrist my skill set and knowledge has grown exponentially. My optometry expertise includes: gaining confidence in my own ability; SPEC scheme; foreign body removal course; EHN participation; studying for the IP qualification and passing Modules 1, 2 and (hopefully) 3 on first sitting; attending the PAC conference; taking on the role of acting primary pre-reg supervisor and taking on additional management responsibilities.

“I really enjoy working for Specsavers Aberdeen. I have always loved the camaraderie that is part of working within the Optom team, I hope we foster the same sense of welcoming and positive attitude to our new colleagues that I experienced.”
