The Outside Clinic has partnered with Vision Aid Overseas as part of our 30th anniversary celebrations.

We will be giving 30 Optometrists the chance to take part in a fully funded Vision Aid Overseas assignment to Sierra Leone, Zambia or Ethiopia.

This life-changing opportunity is open to all Optometrists joining us now and includes:

• All expenses paid for by The Outside Clinic

• Extra time off to cover your assignment

• Full support and guidance through the process

• 5 CET points available

Since 1985 Vision Aid Overseas has worked in 26 countries and helped over one million patients in their pursuit of transforming access to eye care services in developing countries.

The development of our staff is important to the service we provide as a company and we believe that a strong Corporate Social Responsibility strategy is fundamental to bringing the best out of our workforce, underlining our commitment as a company to develop well-rounded, caring individuals for the domiciliary profession.

Innovation is very much at the heart of what we do in our day-to-day work, and we are always looking to improve our patient care experience. Our continued investment in state-of-the-art technology keeps us at the cutting edge as a highly respected leading company in the optometry industry and our staff safe in the knowledge that they have the very best clinical support to back them up.

The Outside Clinic is the only national on-site visiting optician to offer digital retinal photography. The Nidek Versacam cameras are available to all our Optometrists, allowing the level of clinical care and monitoring in the home to closely resemble the service a patient could expect in the high street. This non-mydriatic version fundus camera produces excellent quality digital images that are stored on purpose-designed computer systems.

In addition to this, we have developed our own record keeping system designed to minimise administration and paperwork, ensuring a high standard of accurate and comprehensive record keeping. The system is regularly reviewed, so that it can be continuously updated and improved.

All details are recorded on the tablet-style screen including GOS forms, dispensing receipts, patient information and referrals. Each screen can be personalised and has features, such as being able to draw with a stylus and add colour to highlight specific diagnostic findings.
